Abstract

Penambahan kitosan dari cangkang kepiting bakau jingga (Scylla olivacea) berpotensi digunakan sebagai filler untuk memperbaiki karakteristik resin akrilik. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh penambahan powder kitosan cangkang kepiting bakau jingga terhadap porositas dan ukuran pori basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik heat cured. Penelitian menggunakan desain true experimental laboratory dengan post-test only control group design. Sebanyak 18 spesimen resin akrilik heat cured dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok, yaitu kontrol tanpa kitosan, kelompok kitosan 0.26%, dan kelompok kitosan 0.52%. Porositas diukur menggunakan metode perbedaan massa kering dan massa basah setelah perendaman aquadest, sedangkan ukuran pori diamati secara deskriptif menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Data porositas dianalisis menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk, Levene Test, One-Way ANOVA, dan Post Hoc LSD pada tingkat kemaknaan 5%. Rerata porositas kelompok kontrol, kitosan 0.26%, dan kitosan 0.52% berturut-turut adalah 9.500 ± 1.795%; 11.717 ± 5.470%; dan 13.950 ± 2.246%. Hasil uji One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antar kelompok (p = 0.131). Berdasarkan pengamatan SEM, rerata ukuran pori pada kelompok kontrol, kitosan 0.26%, dan kitosan 0.52% berturut-turut sebesar 6.88 µm, 43.93 µm, dan 74.57 µm. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan powder kitosan cangkang kepiting bakau jingga pada konsentrasi yang diteliti tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap porositas basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik heat cured, sedangkan hasil pengamatan SEM menunjukkan kecenderungan peningkatan ukuran pori seiring meningkatnya konsentrasi kitosan.
